The Glowing Home, neon light and sound installation
Allié’s neon sculpture of a solitary human figure transforms ArtBloc, a mobile art space built from repurposed shipping containers, into a temporary shelter. A sound installation will accompany the work, which features separately recorded voices by people living or working in Jersey City. The songs, which touch on feelings of home, memory, and loss, will be played back through a pair of speakers affixed to ArtBloc.

A SENSE OF HUMOR
June 20-September 26
www.jmkac.org
A Sense of Humor examines the many faces of humor in art, whether lighthearted tongue-in-cheek work, biting witticism that stabs at the politics of today, or quirky objects that call to mind the familiar. Through installations, paintings, sculpture, photographs, video, and audio, the 22 featured artists arrive at humor from many different points of view.
Artists whose works are featured include: Erwin Wurm (Austria); José Carcavilla (Chile); Barnaby Barford, Matt Stuart (England); Laurina Paperina (Italy); David Shrigley (Scotland); Tim Hawkinson, Jean Lowe (CA); Bill Amundson (CO); Gregory Scott (IL); Jeffu Warmouth (MA); Fanny Allié, William Wegman (NY); Joel-Peter Witkin (NM); Steven and Billy Blaise Dufala (PA); Charles Krafft, Mike Simi (WA) and Erika Rothenberg (CA).
