Passageway, 2020, found fabric and mixed media on canvas, L 108in x H 50in (each panel), Hyatt Centric Hotel, Philadelphia, PA
The textile-based works permanently installed in the elevator lobbies of Hyatt Centric Philadelphia reference the city’s visual tapestry of diverse neighborhoods as well as the continuous flow of people momentarily inhabiting the hotel. Integrating recycled, found garments and my own clothing I created 22 unique textile landscapes evoking abstracted floor plans, interior/exterior scenes, figurative elements bordering on abstraction, while taking inspiration from the surrounding area. Connected by threads, alternately loose and in-tension, each element finds its place within these poetic and abstracted landscapes.
